Watercolor: Intermediate & Advanced Projects (Spring and/or Summer @ McG)

This course is designed to be a small class for students experienced in watercolor/water-media who wish to do in-depth exploration of selected traditional and/or contemporary approaches to watercolor.

HEALTH & SAFETY: As there are no local or statewide health alerts at this time, McGuffey has suspended all mask and proof of vaccination requirements. We do ask that, If you are have a communicable illness or have been in close contact with someone who does, that you please stay home for a week and/or that you practice some mild social distancing in class that week. (See missed class info below.)

MISSED CLASS: We all lead complex lives and may have to mis a session of class. If you are going to be out of class for health or any other life reasons, please let me know ahead of time. I may be able to set up a digital link (via Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype) to facilitate your virtual attendance. If that doesn’t prove possible, I can certainly record a video of the major class session activities to send you.

•    Spring Session: We will begin by learning to create and also to accentuate the Transparency of our colors; next we’ll explore the nearly magical power of Neutral Grays to transform the effects of color in our paintings!

•    Summer Session: We will start by exploring the effects of light (and shadow too) ; then work on creating a greater sense of 3-D depth by employing strategies for Layered Space.

We will make use of lots of demos, handouts, and other resources along with group critiques and personal feedback to help each student achieve their goals.

STUDENTS: Maximum of 8 students, Adults/mature teens with prior experience in watercolor                                                                

DATES and TIMES:

•    Spring Session: Saturdays 1:30-4:00 pm for 6 weeks, begins on April 13th, skip May 11th, and wrap up on May 25th.

•    Summer Session: Saturdays 1:30-4:00 pm for 6 weeks, begins on June 15th, skip July 6th and wrap up on July 27th.

LOCATION: Starnes classroom, McGuffey Art Center

PAYMENT INFORMATION: $295, (with a $35 discount for seniors and CVWG members). If you wish to sign up for both the Spring and Summer session, there is an $95 discount available.
